MR F. J. WHITEHEAD'S FUNERAL

FOOTBALL DIRECTORS AND PLAYERS ATTEND


Many friends in sporting and business circles attended the funeral to Springbank Cemetery. Aberdeen, yesterday of Mr Frank John Whitehead. 5 Rubislaw Den South. Aberdeen, a former chairman of directors of Aberdeen Football Club.

It was indicative of the popularity which Mr Whitehead enjoyed that motor cars conveying mourners stretched for almost half a mile behind the hearse. Members of the board of directors as well as officials and players from Pittodrie were among the many who paid a last tribute. .

FOOTBALLERS CARRY COFFIN

Four members of the Aberdeen team - William Cooper, Frank Dunlop, George Thomson and Pat Kelly—carried the coffin from the house, and also from the hearse to the graveside. The services at the house and graveside were conducted by the Rev. John M'llwraith, St Ninian's Parish Church.

The chief mourners and pall-bearer. - were: — Mr Norman Whitehead, son: Mr Fred Whitehead, brother; Mr L. M. Worling, son-in-law; Mr James Simpson, nephew; Mr George Wilson, Dr E. Bruce Wilson, Mr John Raffan and Mr William Philip, a member of the board of directors of Aberdeen F.C. Members of the board of directors and officials of Aberdeen F.C who attended were Mr George Anderson, Mr Charles Forbes, Mr J.D. Robbie, Mr James Finnie, Mr David Halliday manager; Mr George Clubb, secretary; Mr Donald Colman, trainer: Mr Robert M'Dermid, assistant trainer, Dr M.B. Gadsby club doctor, and Dr A.W. Forrest, assistant club doctor.

Players present were;— George Hamilton, George Scott, Robert Graham, John Pattillo, John McKenzie, Richard Donald and George Thomson.

The general company of mourners also included Mr G.S. Fraser, town clerk, representing the Lord provost G.A. Wilson, advocate. Mr Norman J. Wilson, advocate Mr James C. In addition to the many family and personal wreaths there were floral tributes from the directors of Aberdeen F.C.; playing staff Pittodrie; directors of Celtic F.C.; Clyde F.C., St Johnstone F.C.; the staff at 26 Waterloo Quay: Messrs S.B. Russell and Sons; Granite Turning Co. Ltd.; Gilcomston Granite Works and Messrs Honeywill and Stem Ltd Glasgow.
